Reading Town Meal

See the Reading Town Meal website for latest news.

Reading Town Meal aims to celebrate and promote home grown and locally produced food. Food4families developed Reading Town Meal as part of its broader vision for a significant increase in the amount of food grown locally and more sustainably. This embraces a broad approach to sustainability, incorporating economic, health and well-being, community capacity and resilience, and carbon reduction aspects.

The Town Meal was held in the Forbury.

The event was free and open to anyone living in and around Reading.

The Reading Free Meal!

And there was dessert! It looks like a wonderful fruit crumble.

Some after dinner entertainment.

Some food for thought...

Some apple pressing issues, to see how much juice can be extracted.

The Reading Town Meal is organised through a partnership group of key stakeholders whose intention is to make it a regular event. The Steering Group  comprises of: Food4Families, Reading College,  True Food Community Co-operative, Transition Town Reading, Reading Food Growing Network, Reading Voluntary Action and other volunteer members.

Reading Town Meal is funded with generous support from Reading Borough Council, the Big Lottery Fund, Reading Climate Change Partnership and other sponsors, as well as donations from local people and companies.

And a big thank you to all those supporters who made the whole event possible..
